Creative Kingdom, Thai Government Collaborate on Landmark Cyber City Development in Chiang Mai; CKI to Craft Planet Within Mindark's Entropia Universe
Cutting-Edge, $250 Million Facility to Serve as New-Media Crown Jewel for Asian Market; CKI Designing Lavish IT-Production Resort as Well as Virtual World for Trend-Setting MMORG
CHIANG MAI, THAILAND--(Marketwire - February 19, 2008) -
Creative Kingdom, Inc. (CKI), the world's most celebrated thematic architectural design firm, has begun developing a state-of-the-art film/television studio and IT production complex in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This massive project, dubbed Cyber City -- underwritten by the Thai government and a consortium of entrepreneurs including CKI CEO Eduardo Robles and President Thanu Boonyawatana, as well as Robles LLC -- is being constructed and outfitted on a nine-kilometer stretch of the northern Thai city at a cost of 7 billion Thai baht ($250 million).
The development, which will also house deluxe accommodations and resort facilities for visiting executives, creatives, financiers and other dignitaries, represents a landmark opportunity for international production entities and online companies to establish a cutting-edge base of operations in the burgeoning Asia market. Later phases of the project are slated to include soundstages, top-tier editing facilities, a theme park, a 3D animation education center and much more.
With Cyber City as the jewel in its crown, Thailand will undoubtedly continue its surge in the technology sector. Thanks to CKA, its robust animation division (which has notched such successful series as "Bubble Warriors," "Magic Panda and the Kool Kidz," "Muey Tiger" and "La-La World," among others), and 3D CGI design prowess, Creative Kingdom will prove instrumental in the global expansion of Thai animation, gaming and new-media development.
With offices in Los Angeles, Dubai, Beijing, Chiang Mai and Pasig City, Philippines, CKI has achieved international renown (and coverage by such bellwether media outlets as "60 Minutes" and The Discovery Channel) as the designer of such lavish destinations as The Palm Island, World Island, and the Madinat Jumeirah Resort in Dubai, UAE. Having brought an element of the fantastic to such real-world locales, CKI will for the first time endeavor to bring the specificity and rigor of its architectural practice to a purely fantastic destination.
The maiden project for the new complex will be CKI's collaboration with the Swedish company Mindark, makers of Entropia Universe, an enormously successful Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORG) with a real cash economy that is already positioned to challenge the dominance of market leader World of Warcraft. CKI, the first high-profile architectural firm to be enlisted for such an undertaking, will design an entire planet within Entropia Universe.
Robles LLC, meanwhile, will bring its considerable consulting expertise in the animation and gaming worlds to the table, and its partnership with CKA will undoubtedly yield unprecedented new developments in the online world. Having developed several CKA cartoon properties, the firm -- which is based at the Los Angeles Center Studio Complex -- is preparing to develop a motion picture project based on the new Entropia Universe planet. This ambitious co-production with CKA Starlight Studios Beijing, and Dabok Entertainment Co., Ltd. Korea, is slated for release in 2010.
"The technology introduced by this project will enable other companies within the media, film, music and gaming industries, among other content providers, to efficiently acquire their own planet within Entropia Universe," declared CKI CEO Robles. "In turn, this will provide a diverse, entertaining and interesting virtual universe of vast proportions for participants to explore."
"This is a historic development in the world of online gaming," added company President Boonyawatana. "Our 30 years of experience in creating top iconic resorts around the world was a key factor in our being selected by Mindark to create its next planet, and we relish the opportunity to achieve this unique fusion of physical and virtual worlds."
"This long-term partnership with CKI is the perfect match for Mindark. It further proves the viability of the Entropia Universe platform as the foundation of creating entertaining and exciting online virtual experiences, as well as giving our partners access to a very secure, proven and stable system for handling real cash transactions within a MMORG," Mindark CIO Marco Behrmann informs.
Users of Entropia Universe and other MMORGs spend considerable sums of real money on virtual goods and services. This confluence of hard currency and frictionless production and distribution has created a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs worldwide. Thanks to its sophisticated technology infrastructure, Cyber City will enable Thai workers to generate income from remote locations -- thus revitalizing the economies of rural communities and stemming the crush of migration to urban centers.
The developers of Cyber City Chiang Mai believe it will prove a benchmark in the ongoing evolution of the new global economy.
About Entropia Universe
Entropia Universe was launched in January 2003 and has grown to 700,000 registered accounts from over 200 countries. Its business model is entirely unique as the client software is free to download from the internet and there are no monthly subscription fees. As the only virtual universe with a real cash economy whose currency, the PED, has a fixed exchange rate of 10:1 with the US Dollar, Entropia Universe provides a means for new players to immediately start exploring and earning real cash without having to deposit money. A key feature is that the funds acquired in Entropia Universe can easily be withdrawn into real-life cash.
Entropia Universe is a registered trademark of Mindark PE AB. Mindark supports and monitors the services and maintenance of the Entropia Universe platform. The real cash economy business model has been very successful and Mindark PE AB has been profitable since 2004. The 2006 turnover of Entropia Universe was 365,000,000 US Dollars.

Hello all, My name is Ed Robles the 3rd not to be confused with Ed Robles the 2nd CEO of Creative Kingdom. I am the CEO of Robles LLC and I will be heading up this Project's development from our Los Angeles Studios. I have been reading the forums and I feel that a proper introduction at this stage would be a good thing for us all. That said please note that due to our Non Discloser Agreement, I am unable to share all the information I would love to share. Still I have cleared for us a few pictures and some info to release on these forums.
1st. This particular planet will be action adventure based. We are planning a very strong storyline, which we will work with MA to get approved and we plan on progressing the story line and adventures as time goes on.
2nd. A Live action movie is in the works, and we are talking to some Hollywood heavy hitters for this project. The Film is intended to help people familiarize themselves with our story line, as well as serving as a vehicle to let mass amount of players become familiar with the Entropia universe.
3rd. Creative Kingdom has nothing to do with Magi Quest adventures = ). Sorry but no real life magic wand adventures are planned anytime soon.
4th. Creative Kingdom and Robles LLC have been in the works for quite some time now on the Storyline/Visuals of this new planet. We already have 6 Concept Cities and areas worked out in the form of real life models. These however are meant strictly for in house conceptual development and are not meant as a preview of any sort, so they will not be shared with the public (with the exception of the picture released here on this post). Our 3D animators continue to work on the cities and areas to help make them more dynamic and interesting.
5th. Creative Kingdom has a very large staff filled with many creative employees who will be a part of this great new development. We have our own in house 2D/3D graphics department, Music department and record label, model shop, writers, film department, comic books, magazine publishing, and even a fashion label. Although our online game division is new we feel we are strongly prepared to enter this industry. We are working and in negotiations with some very high level people with very impressive backgrounds in the industry.
6th. Our PR staff has made a bold statement, and we expect to fulfill all of our mission statements.
7th. A Website will be released soon where more information will be available.
8th. We would also like to have a strong communication with the active Entropia community and work closely with you all to find out more from you about your feelings on Entropia.
9th. We have been playing Entropia for a good while now, and we did so from the bottom up. We spent a good month Sweating to earn our first Pistol, and have died many a gruesome death due to trains (some..ok well most caused by us). A special thanks to all those who came to heal us after said deaths = ) We have also deposited and shopped for hours in the AH trying to build our Shogun /Paladin etc sets (I of course got stuck trying out full pixie after requesting the funds for full Ghost ><).
10th. All of our guys currently working at Robles LLC have over 6 years (Some much longer Online) playing MMO’s at all levels and capacities. We are avid gamers and feel a close kinship to all our fellow gamers and hope to maintain this throughout the design phase.
And Now for those promised Pics. I hope you all enjoy because there was some major arm twisting involved in getting even just this released.

Hello to the EU community. My name is Berny Herrera, basically David S.' from MindArks counterpart at Creative Kingdom. At the moment, all of the above questions unfortunately can not be answered with any type of accuracy or commitment from CKI. We are diligently working to have our planet designed and ready ASAP, but there are still many variables to implementing on the new CRYENG that are to be worked on by our team. So although we would love to launch sooner rather than later, we can not give a date to the full roll-out yet.
Ours is ONE planet. There are other planets coming from a few other groups, I think China is one of the groups, but we'll let MA comment on that.
As for current avatars traveling to our planet freely with all of their skills, weapons, and items functioning as they do now... this all is still being developed and determined. MA and CKI will make determinations based on many variables that will be influenced by the RCE system, but more importantly the enhancement of the overall EU gaming experience.
On if items and/or skills from this planet will be useable in the existing EU world... again, this also is still being developed and determined.
Guys, I can say that the CKI/MA philosophy for our new planet is to keep a cohesive universe, not a bunch of totally independent areas where nothing translates with each other. Sorry that we can not say much more than this at this moment.
We do hope to have our new information website up in the next few months. You here will be the first to know.
We thank you all for the enthusiasm and support for the new planet, but please understand that we can not really say much more beyond what Ed3 has already posted up. We could've kept totally silent, but out of respect for the EU community, we decided to be different and share what we could with you all at this point. Believe us, we really wish we could say a lot more, and we truly understand your frustration, as we've been there too, but it is truly not feasible at this time. But the information we did release today was to let the EU community share our excitement and determination to bring EU something that will truly set it apart from the rest.
Thanks again for all for the patience and understanding here, it's much appreciated!
-Berny H.

| The photos look very nice. I sure hope we will be allowed to travel there. If we cant, would we be allowed to have a 2nd avatar for that planet?? I bet not, since then it would make it impossible to later on allow us to travel there. |

Well I hope you are right. It would be a big misstake by MA otherwise.
But Burny H. seems to give more information than MA usually does and not even Burny is sure. |

Guy, first off thank you for all of your comments, and input. The main challenge to us in communicating and sharing early with you all is that YES, it might take awhile for us to develop and integrate the planet with all of the new technology, including the CryENG2, which is currently being integrated into the EU platform. The work at MA is going along at a furious pace, and we will be working close with them to get the new CK planet up ASAP, after they roll-in the CryENG2 program.
As someone mentioned earlier, there are a bunch of sharp folks at MA/CKI who want to maximize the EU experience for all existing users and attract new ones also, and all efforts are being made to make sure the cross-experience from Calypso to the new CK planet will be one that works. Our intention is not one of total independence and exclusivity between the CK/MA planets, but one of progression in the experience. Think an much-enhanced experience to the Asteriod. I can't promise that all things will translate between the two areas, but they will not be totally independent either. The RCE system will be in place, as now, or better.
Thanks again, and we will continue to do our best to keep you guys informed as we can.
Cheers,
-Berny H. |
